Headed to the deuce

"I will be playing at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, T.X. this fall. I had planned on attending Chicago State but I fell short of graduation," said Demerius Smith. Smith played this past season for the Statesmen of Kennedy King College in Chicago.

The Alexandria, L.A. native will get a chance to get closer back to home and will have two seasons to play for the Texans. Smith averaged 17.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game last season for the 17-13 Statesmen in Illinois Region 4.
Smith hit a blistering 47.7 percent (96-201) from 3-point range this year. Smith started his college career at Bossier Parish Community College in Louisiana back in 2008-2009. Smith averaged 13.1 points and 4.2 assists per game at BPCC.
