High Majors Sniffing with Fresno Citys Jackson

While it may be a weak class for point guards, Fresno City's Tyrone Jackson has zoomed to the top of many wish lists this winter for colleges seeking help at the one slot.
Jackson, a 6-2, 200 pound sophomore point guard from Fresno, Calif., helped the Rams win the championship of the 24th Annual San Jose City College Basketball Tournament last weekend.

In the title game, Jackson scored nine points and dished out a number of assists. For his efforts, he was named all-tournament.
Jackson is a player who beats opponents with his strong penetration skills and deft passing. In Fresno's high octane attack, he is relied open to kick the ball to the open shooter, but he's also capable of driving to the hole and finishing.
If there's one criticism of Jackson, it's his outside shooting. He has a very low release point on his jumper, and generally only shoots it if he's left wide open.
While a plethora of low to mid major programs were involve with Jackson early, high majors are now starting to call on him, according to FCC Head Coach Vance Walberg.
UConn, San Diego State, Brigham Young and Washington are very interested in Jackson, and the University of Arizona recently requested tape.
Others in the mix include St. Mary's, Hawaii, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Utah State, Pacific, San Jose State and San Francisco.
Jackson took official visits to Cal Poly-SLO and St. Mary's in the fall, so he has three more visits left to use this winter or in the spring.
Jackson isn't expected to make a decision until the spring, when Fresno City's basketball season is over. JUCO Junction will stay on top of the situation and keep you posted should any new information come to light on Jackson's situation.
