Highlanders big man stays in-state

The NCAA Signing Period is approaching this week on Wednesday. One post player from the Lone Star State will join his teammate in signing with a NCAA Division One program for next season. Steven Werner will play in the Southland Conference at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, T.X. next fall.

The power forward from McLennan College will join teammate Taylor Smith who will ink with Stephen F. Austin next season at the Division One level.

Werner is currently averaging 10 points and 5 rebounds per gameon for the Highlanders. The Highlanders are 3-0 on the season and are coached by Kevin Gill.

"Steven has a nice soft touch around the basket. He really likes to play physical and draw contact in the paint," said JucoJunction Publisher Bret Swanson.
