Hill J.C. Program Update

Todd Neighbors' Hill J.C. program in Hillsboro, Tex., has a number of prospects being looked at by Division I programs this fall.
The Rebels' biggest prospect, 6-9, 255 pound center Jose Nava of Maracaibo, Venezuela, is wrapping up an official visit to New Orleans today.

Following Hill's participation in a Dallas Jamboree on Saturday, Nava visited UNO from Oct. 26-28.
Nava became eligible at the semester break last year, and averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds in conference play for the Rebels. He's coming off knee surgery, and as expected, showed some signs of rust at the Jamboree.
"He's a good low post player," Neighbors said. "He passes it well out of the low post, but he will need to get his knees stronger. I am sure as he continues to rehab, that by January, he'll be fine."
A pair of other Hill players -- 5-11 point guard Mikey Mitchell and 6-8 combo forward Ike Ofoegbu -- are also being hit by Division I recruiters.
Ofoegbu, a 210 pound freshman qualifier from San Antonio, Tex., could leave Hill with three years to play on the Division I level.
At this past weekend's Dallas Jamboree, JUCO Junction liked Ofoegbu's skill level. He has a penchant for facing the basket, possesses adequate ball skills but needs to get stronger. He tends to avoid contact and must significantly boost his upper body size and strength. On the plus size, he's long and athletic, so he hasn't yet filled into his frame.
Ofoegbu is the younger brother of Texas Tech power forward John Ofoegbu.
According to Coach Neighbors, Creighton, Wyoming and Indiana State have expressed preliminary interest in Ofoegbu.
As for Mitchell, New Orleans and Texas Christian have spoken to Neighbors regarding his spunky lead guard from San Antonio.
Mitchell is very quick and can play both on and off the ball. We like him better when he sublimates his scoring skills to run the team. At his size, he is going to have to play the point slot at the Division I level.
JUCO Junction will keep you abreast on all three players as the early and late signing periods approach. Stay tuned!
