Holt: What Will He Do in 03-04

Justin Holt, the explosive 6-7, 207 pound combo forward from Tacoma C.C. in Tacoma, Wash., was the talk of the Mullen JUCO Showcase this past weekend in Tulsa, Okla.
Holt, who played for the Compton Magic entry at Mullen's, attacked the rim aggressively and showed a good degree of skill level from the wing as well.

Holt told JUCO Junction that he plans on sitting out this year at Tacoma C.C. and then enrolling at a Division I school in 2004-2005 with three years to play.
Holt played this past winter as a freshman at Tacoma. He signed with Iowa State in November 2002, but saw that go up in smoke when the NCAA Clearinghouse ruled him to be a 4-2-4 transfer due to the fact that he took summer courses at Oregon State in 2002. As a result, he'll need to earn his A.A. degree before moving on to the D-I ranks.
On top of that, there was some tumult at Iowa State this spring with the resignation of Head Coach Larry Eustachy, who was primarily involved in Holt's recruitment to ISU in the first place.
At the Mullen Camp, Holt gave us a list of Arizona State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Texas Tech and Washington. Of that group, Washington has offered Holt, and the others could soon follow after his fine weekend in Tulsa.
While the rest of his Compton Magic team headed back out west on Sunday, Holt stayed behind in Oklahoma. He told us that he planned to swing by both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State on Monday and look around both campuses. He took an unofficial visit to Texas Tech earlier this summer.
Holt told us that he plans on signing with a Division I program in November, so we'll keep you abreast on any changes in his plans or recruitment in the months to follow. Stay tuned!
