Houston Offers Boyd; Will He Go Early

Luther Boyd, the skilled 6-7, 240 pound power forward from Iowa Western C.C. in Council Bluffs, Ia., completed a visit to the University of Houston from Sept. 26-28.
"He had a great time," Iowa Western Asst. Coach James Bankhead told JUCO Junction. "The

campus was nice and he met some great former
players."
"He went out to eat with Clyde 'The
Glide' Drexler," Bankhead continued. "The players was nice and the whole coaching staff was great overall."
During his visit, the Cougar staff offered Boyd a scholarship. According to Bankhead, Boyd declined to commit at this time, and may want to take other visits before signing with a four-year school.
"Luther stated that he more than likely would wait until the spring to sign," Bankhead said. "There are several other schools that are still recruiting him."
Marshall, Lamar, South Florida Wyoming, Wisconsin-Green Bay and New Mexico State are among the other programs courting Boyd.
Marshall Head Coach Ron Jirsa is slated to be in Council Bluffs on Thursday, Oct. 2 to visit with Boyd.
With practice officially getting under way today (Oct. 1), Boyd probably won't take any more official visits until after the 2003-2004 season.
JUCO Junction will stay on the case in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
