"Watson can play multiple positions. He finished the season for us playing the point guard position," said Sautter.
Sean was an academic qualifier coming out of Sheapshead Bay High School in New York. Sean has just played one season of basketball. Watson was only 6-foot coming out of high school and over the last few years has grown five inches and added 40 pounds.
Sean took classes at Morgan State for three semesters and then onto the College of Staten Island for one semester before enrolling at Howard Junior College last August.
"Sean can really finish in traffic and get to the basket easy," said Sautter.
Watson averaged 13.1 ppg and 4.2 rebounds this season while shooting 58.6% (115-196) from the floor. Watson can play multiple positions from point guard to small forward on the floor. Sean will be heading to Montana next fall to play the Grizzlies. He also received interest from Sam Houston State. Sean visited both campuses. Watson was an All-Conference Performer this past season for the Hawks.
Benson Akpan, (SO) 6-foot-9 (235) from Austin, TX. The 4/5 man will be staying in-state next season and heading off to Stephen F Austin. Akpan visited East Tennessee State, Louisiana-Lafayette and SFA before deciding.
"Benson is a lot more athletic than what people think," Sautter said.
He was born in Austin but grew up in Nigeria and then later returned to the USA and lived with relatives in Round Rock, TX. Benson really enjoyed the Business Department at SFA. Akpan plans on majoring in Business next season.
Akpan started every game the last two years for the Hawks and the team has a 60-9 record over that period. Benson averaged 8.2 ppg and 6.8 rebounds this season and was
an All-Conference Performer for the Hawks.
