Idaho Adds Pair of Spring JC Transplants

The University of Idaho has secured commitments from a pair of junior college players this spring, landing 6-4 combo guard Dandrick Jones of Trinidad State College in Colorado and 6-7 power forward Lionel Davis of Chaffey College in California.
JUCO Junction confirmed with Chaffey Head Coach Jeff Klein that Davis has sent in his signed national letter of intent to Idaho.

As for Jones, he has committed to Idaho, according to Trinidad Head Coach Jim Toupal.
"He said he's going there," Toupal said on Friday night. "I don't know whether or not he sent his letter in, but he said he's going to Idaho."
Toupal said that Jones picked Idaho after seriously considering New Mexico State this spring. During the season, a number of high major programs sniffed around with the Dallas, Tex., native, who attended Garden City (KS) C.C. a year ago.
Jones averaged 21 points and four assists per game for the Trojans in 2002-2003.
"He's very athletic and can play both the point guard and two guard," Toupal said. "He can score and is an extremely good passer. At that level, he might be more suited to be a point guard."
As for Davis, he played on a team with several Division I prospects on it. A beefy 6-7, 250 pounder, Davis probably wasn't able to showcase all of his talents, because the junior college game tends to be played faster and looser than at the D-I level.
JUCO Junction caught him in action back in December at the Rio Hondo Tournament, and he didn't get a ton of touches in the game we took in.
Both Jones and Davis will have two years of eligibility at Idaho.
