In Focus: Alabama Southern

Second year head coach Ben Hicks went out this past summer and took in some transfers for this years Eagles ballclub. The Eagles finished (15-15) last season in Hicks as first season as a head coach. The Eagles are looking to make some noise this season in the State of Alabama. JucoJunction had a chance to watch the Eagles play at Chipola College in Marianna, FL on Saturday evening.
Rory Miller, (SO) 6-foot-7 (200) from Jesup, GA, played his freshman season at Tallahassee Community College where he averaged 10.5 ppg and 6.5 rebounds last season for the Eagles. Miller, a left-handed combo forward, likes to play face up from 10-12 feet in on the floor. Rory has the capablity of stepping out to shoot the three pointer. Rory has received interest from Jacksonville State, Morehead State and Southeast Missouri State this fall according to coach Hicks.

Brandon Nobles, (SO) 6-foot-1 (185) from Mobile, AL is a two guard who averaged 18.3 ppg and 4.3 rebounds last season for the Eagles. Brandon really can stroke the three ball and prefers to play out on the wing. Brandon has received interest from Mercer,Western Kentucky and Southeast Missouri State this fall.
Daviel Clements, (SO) 5-foot-11 (170) from Jesup, GA, is an undersized two guard that can play the combo guard position. Clements hit the nets for 18.4 ppg last season. Daviel will pop off screens for his shot and has a quick shot release from three point range. Clements and teammate Rory Miller grew up in Jesup, GA together. Clements has received interest from South Carolina State and Southeast Missouri State this fall.
Kerry Weaver, (SO) 6-foot-7 (240) from Atlanta, is a transfer from Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Phenix City,AL. Kerry a power forward has good hands and plays the power forward postion for the Eagles.
Elton Simmons, (SO) 6-foot-2 (200) from Macon, GA, played his freshman campaign at Minot State-Bottineau in North Dakota last year. Simmons, a left-handed two guard, can create his own shot and knock down the midrange jumper.
Brenton Butler, (FR) 6-foot-9 (255) from Mobile, AL, played at Mattie Blount High School and ran AAU ball with the Alabama Challenge. Brenton plays with his back to the basket most of the time but can step out and hit a ten foot jumper.
The Eagles have a lot of solid pieces to make a run for Hutch this season and the Alabama region. JucoJunction will keep fans posted on the progress of the Eagles during the season.
