In Focus: Carl Sandburg College

Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, IL has been a quiet place for Division One coaches this past decade. The Chargers just recently played in The Illinois Valley Community College Jamboree on Columbus Day and JucoJunction was there to see them play. The Chargers play in Region 4 in Northern Illinois. Head coach Ryan Twaddle is in his second year leading the Chargers this coming season.
Kuddles Hopkins, (SO) 6-foot-3 from Saginaw, MI, led the Chargers in scoring last season with 16 ppg and 5.6 rebounds. Kuddles is really good in transition and can get to the basket. Oakland University has made contact with Hopkins according to coach Twaddle. Hopkins will need to do summer work to graduate on time.

Rob Clark, (SO) 6-foot-4 from Saginaw, MI, is one of the five Michigan kids on the Chargers roster. Clark is a wiry, physical two guard that can find the open man on the pick and roll. Rob plays with a little mean streak in his game. Clark would like to return to the Michigan area after this season. Clark averaged 12.7 ppg, 8.5 rebounds last season while shooting 53.2% (114-214) from the floor last year.
Graylin Smith, (SO) 6-foot-6 from Calumet City, IL, is a faceup power forward. Graylin has a very thin frame and must get more physical at times for the Chargers. Smith averaged 8.3 ppg and 5.6 rebounds last season.
Henrik Nielson, (FR) 6-foot-8 hails from Hillerod, Denmark. Nielson was the last cut of the Danish National Team according to Twaddle last year. Henrik has good mobility and prefers to play faceup.
The Chargers will look to improve on last season. JucoJunction will follow the progress of the Chargers this season.
