In state battle
Walters State Community College defeated a very feisty Motlow State College 83-80 last night.
The Senators (9-4) were led in scoring by freshman Kelvin Jackson with 18 points.

Ricky Dunnaway, an academic qualifier post player, finished with 13 points. Dunnaway is 6-foot-8 and hails from Murfreesboro, TN.
Junior College transfer Denzel Smith chipped in 11 points in the win. Smith played last season at Wabash Valley College (IL).
Jaylen Barford led the Bucks (12-3) in the losing with 33 points and 8 assists. Barford connected on 13-26 from the floor.
Barford is currently averaging 27.7 ppg, 7.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists this season. Barford signed in the fall with the University of Arkansas.
Shooting guard Darius Joell added 23 points for the Bucks. Joell played last season at Wallace State-Hanceville (AL).
Barford currently has 971 career points after 42 career games at Motlow State College.
