Injury knocks Dumas out

Larry Dumas at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, IA was having a great sophomore season when he went done with a injury against New Creations Prep out of Richmond, IN. Dumas, (SO) 6-foot-2 (180) from Chicago, IL, started his college career at Western Illinois University. Larry played in 25 games for the Leathernecks while averaging 2.3 ppg as a freshman.
"Larry was not only our best scorer but our best leader on and off the court. You hate to see injuries to any athlete but for it to happen to a kid that works hard everyday is a shame. If anyone can bounce back from this type of injury he can. Larry is explosive going to the basket and can finish in traffic. If it wasn't for the injury he would of certainly been a first-team all-region player this season," said assistant coach Jon Grzanich.
Dumas was averaging 14.3 ppg, 3.1 rebounds and 3 assists a game this season after he went down the 19th game into the season for the Blackhawks. The Blackhawks are currently (22-5) on the season and (19-0) at home. Dumas was receiving interest from Florida International, Eastern Illinois, UC-Riverside and Loyola-Chicago according to Grzanich when he went down with the injury.
