Interest in Bell Picking Up

Kevin Bell may be in his third school in as many years, but success seems to follow the talented 6-2, 200 pound combo guard from Monroe C.C. in the Bronx, N.Y.
Bell scored 30 points and dished out 11 assists on Saturday afternoon to lead Monroe to a 92-85 victory over Westchester C.C. in Valhalla, N.Y. The win put the Mustangs in next weekend's District 3 championship in South Carolina.

Monroe Head Coach Jeff Brustad told JUCO Junction that Bell is being looked at by Manhattan, Eastern Kentucky, St. Francis (NY) and Providence. Those schools have all been in this winter to take a look at Bell.
Others who have expressed interest include Binghamton, Baylor and West Virginia.
Monroe is on the trimester system, and according to Coach Brustad, Bell will need to complete a full course-load (roughly five to six classes) in order to graduate.
Bell signed with American University out of high school, but eligibility issues kept him from suiting up for that school. He bounced instead to Arkansas-Fort Smith (formerly Westark), where he sat out half a year in 2001 before playing the 2001-2002 season for Doc Sadler's Lions.
Coach Brustad said that some of Bell's previous credits at Fort Smith didn't apply to his degree at Monroe, so graduation could be tight this summer. The last trimester at Monroe ends in August.
Bell is a heady combo guard who uses his scoring ability to set up his playmaking. While he has a tendency to go right, Bell has a knack for making big shots and big plays at crunch time.
JUCO Junction will keep you posted Bell's situation as the spring signing period approaches, so stay tuned!
