Jayhawk West Wings Make Decisions

A pair of Jayhawk West Conference players who helped their teams reach the Region VI Tournament semis in March, D'Andre McGrew and Eric Fowlkes, have signed on with four-year schools this spring.
McGrew, a stocky 6-3, 220 pound swingman from Cloud County C.C. in Concordia, Kan., has signed with Georgia State, according to T-Birds Head Coach Kevin Muff. He picked Georgia State over Gardner Webb.

A native of Salina, Kan., McGrew enjoyed a magical sophomore campaign for Cloud County, nearly leading the T-Birds to the Region VI title game in March.
McGrew averaged 16.6 points and earned a whopping 175 trips to the free throw line in 2002-2003, where he converted at an 81 percent rate.
Despite carrying some excess weight on his frame, McGrew is a proficient and strong driver who gets to the free throw line. He has silky smooth touch on his free throws and has range out to three point land.
Fowlkes, a very athletic and versatile 6-4 small forward from Milwaukee, Wis., has signed with Oral Roberts. He also considered Evansville.
Fowlkes averaged 9.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game for the 26-7 Trojans. He started 31 of 33 games for Colby, shooting 52 percent from the floor, 41 percent beyond the arc and 70 percent from the foul line.
Fowlkes is the third junior college player to sign this spring with ORU. Earlier this spring, the Golden Eagles added 6-8 Scuyler Thomas of Cowley County C.C. in Kansas and 6-6 Larry Owens of Yavapai C.C. in Arizona.
