Johnson on the Move Again; Lands @ Diablo Valley

DeMarshay Johnson, a finesse oriented 6-9, 215 pound power forward, has landed at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, Calif., this fall.
Diablo Valley is Johnson's fourth school in as many years; he spent last year as a part-time student at Nevada-Reno, where he was a non-qualifier.

Johnson was hoping that a year at a prep school on the East Coast would help him boost his academic credentials in line with NCAA initial eligibility standards.
Following a fine career at Oakland Tech H.S. in Oakland, Calif., Johnson spent that prep year at Christian Faith Center in Creedmor, N.C. After he failed to qualify at CFC, he spent last year at Nevada-Reno as a part-time student.
According to Diablo Valley Head Coach Steve Coccimiglio, Johnson will spend two years at DVC before going back to the Division I level. His clock did not start until he enrolled for full-time classes this fall at Diablo Valley.
"He's an intelligent kid, and he has some pride," Coccimiglio explained. "He goes to the offensive boards harder than he goes to the defensive boards."
Since leaving Nevada-Reno, Johnson's recruitment has reopened. Nebraska and Southern California are two programs that have shown some early interest in Johnson.
We'll keep you posted on Johnson's freshman campaign in the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned!
