Kansas State lands Florida guard

Former Louisiana Tech University commit Juevol Myles has committed to Frank Martin's Kansas State basketball program; this according to his coach Eddie Barnes, who coached the Canada product at Tallahassee Community College. According to Barnes, after spending this past weekend in Manhattan and touring the K-State campus, Myles felt inclined to pledge his services to the Wildcats immediately, never entertaining the notion of exploring other options.
"Yes, Juevol committed to Kansas State," Barnes said when reached by phone on Tuesday afternoon. "I spoke with him yesterday. He just felt really comfortable with the coaching staff and the players. He felt like it was the right choice for him."

Barnes describes K-State's newest addition as a pass-first guard that could be plugged into the Wildcats backcourt immediately. His 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame gives Martin a physical guard with a reputation as a true distributor, traits Martin has been on record saying he targets in prospective members of his backcourt.
"He's a strong kid with good character, and just felt like the situation was a very good fit for him," Barnes said.
Barnes indicated that it wasn't the allure of playing time or even the opportunity to shine on a national stage that drew miles to Manhattan, however. Instead, the coach says that, in the end, Myles' choice to make a commitment was one that hinged on the "right fit" and an ability to mesh in with his teammates and coaches.
"With the people they have coming back, he just felt comfortable with the team," Barnes said. "He feels good about being around those players and his situation."
Myles averaged 12 points and 3.7 assists while shooting 36 percent from 3-point rage in his one season at Tallahassee, where he enrolled after clearinghouse issues prohibited him from attending Louisiana Tech, the school with which he originally signed.
During his time at Ajax, Ontario's Pickering High School, Myles led his team to a 70-2 overall record and captured both a Canadian Provincial Title and a National Championship while averaging 13 points at 8 assists per game for his career.
Myles will be a sophomore next season for K-State.
