Kennedy-King scouting report

The Statesmen of Kennedy-King College in Chicago have a very solid team this season to contend for the Region 4 Championship with the likes of Highland Community College and Kanakee Community College. Head coach Garland Dildy has a good crop of sophomores on this years squad. JucoJunction saw the Statesmen play this past weekend in Iowa City, IA at the JUCO Jam on the campus of the University of Iowa.
Antwan Ware: (SO) 6-foot-5 (210) from Chicago. Ware graduated from Chicago Phillips back in 2003.

"Antwan is a very versatile and active 4/3 man," said JucoJunction staff member Bret Swanson. "Antwan brings a lot of energy to the floor. He can step out and knockdown the 14 footer and rebounds out of his area very well on both ends."
Tennessee State is looking to bring Ware in at the end of the month October 26-28. Drake, University of Illinois Chicago and Indiana State have also showed interest in Ware according to Coach Dildy. Ware averaged 13.1 ppg and 9.4 rebounds last year while shooting 64% (94-147) from the floor.
Jason Simon: (SO) 6-foot-1 (195) from Cleveland, OH.
"Jason has a great quick release and can hit some deep threes. Simon has really good elevation on his shot and hit seven threes in the game I watched," said Swanson.
Jason plays the shooting guard for the Statesmen. Cleveland State and Detroit have made early contact with Simon according to Coach Dildy. Simon averaged 14.1 ppg while shooting 46% (41-89) from three-point range last season.
Tyjuan Wallace: (SO) 6-foot-7 (220) from Memphis, TN.
"Tyjuan is a agile power forward who likes to set a lot of screens for his teammates and really cleans up the glass on the offensive boards. Tyjaun is not overall skilled but he does a lot of things to make your team win games," said Swanson.
Detroit, Miami-Ohio and Drake have called on Wallace this fall. Wallace played at Elliston Baptist in Memphis.
Marcell Anderson: (SO) 5-foot-11 (170) from Richton Park, IL. Anderson played a few years back at South Surburban College (IL).
"Marcell can really get to the basket and score. Anderson has a really nice pullup jumper and plays a solid defense," said Swanson.
Anderson has some work to do in the classroom to graduate on time.
Dominick Bryant and Francisco Romero were not in attendance for the Statesmen this weekend in Iowa City. Bryant (FR), 6-foot-5 (230) from Dayton, OH, and Romero, (SO) 6-foot-6 (220) from Grand Rapids, MI.
Look for the Kennedy-King Statesmen to compete for a Region Championship this season in Region 4.
