Kindred: Should He Stay or Should He Go

Keion Kindred, a strong and athletic 6-4, 210 pound point guard from Yavapai C.C. in Prescott, Ariz., is a freshman qualifier who could leave the JUCO ranks with three years to play on the Division I level.
JUCO Junction caught up with Yavapai Head Coach Brooks Thompson this week, and he said that Kindred is still in the process of pondering his future plans.

He could return to Yavapai next year as a sophomore and continue to fine tune his skills for the college level, or he could bolt for a Division I program if he feels comfortable with the fit and situation at a particular program.
Specifically, Thompson said that Kindred needs to work on his shooting skills for the next level.
"He's a great floor leader who controls the tempo of the game," Thompson said. "He's smart, he can get people shots and he will guard you."
"He also does a lot of intangible things," Thompson continued. "On top of that, he's a great athlete who is also very strong."
Among the programs who have called out to Yavapai to inquire about Kindred are Oklahoma State, N.C. State, Utah, Southern California and Penn State.
This season, Kindred averages three points, six rebounds and seven assists per game for the 20-4 Roughriders, who are ranked 17th in the most recent NJCAA poll.
Kindred was a highly regarded high school prospect out of Compton Dominguez H.S. in Compton, Calif., before enrolling at Yavapai. He actually committed to Texas El Paso last spring, but opted not to attend the Western Athletic Conference program this past fall.
JUCO Junction will keep on top of Kindred's situation this winter and into the spring, so keep it here for the top JUCO recruiting coverage in the nation.
