Kirkwood forward headed East

Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA has been a pretty steady performer over the years in the NJCAA Division Two ranks under head coach Doug Wagemester. The Eagles made another trip to the NJCAA National Tourney this past March in Danville, IL. The Eagles finished the season at 27-6 and recently had one player find a school back in the Northeast part of the country for next season.
Joel Barkers, (SO) 6-foot-6 from Washington, D.C., will play at the University of Hartford next year according to coach Wagemester. Barkers started his college career at Coffeyville Community College before transferring over to Kirkwood Community College. Barkers, a power forward, averaged 10.1 ppg and 7.8 rebounds this past season for the Eagles.
Barkers attempted Notre Dame Academy, National Christian and Mount Zion Christian Academy in Durham, NC before heading off to junior college a few seasons back.
