Konecny Hoping for Frest Start

Mark Konecny, a well traveled 6-10, 235 pound center/power forward from Waterbury, Conn., will play the 2003-2004 season at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Id.
Konecny enrolled this spring at CSI, and he's hoping for a fresh start at the perennial JUCO power.

Konecny was considered a top 150 recruit out of high school in Waterbury, Conn. He signed with Syracuse, and after playing in three games for the Orangemen in 2001, he left the school.
Konecny made pit stops at Central Florida, Iona College in New York and Cuesta College in California before winding up at CSI.
Southern Idaho Asst. Coach Barret Peery told JUCO Junction that Idaho has expressed some preliminary interest in Konecny.
Based on his size and pedigree, Konecny has the chance to be recruited at a pretty good level this winter. However, he must take cae of business in the classroom and prove to scouts and Division I coaches that he can be an effective big man.
Konecny hasn't played a full year of competitive basketball since his senior year of high school (2000-2001). So the 2003-2004 season will be a bit of a measuring stick for him.
We'll stay on top of his situation as the basketball season approaches. Stay tuned!
