Konecny Relocates; D-Is Starting to Look

Mark Konecny, the well travelled 6-10, 245 pound power forward/center from Yavapai C.C. in Prescott, Ariz., is beginning to generate some Division I looks.
JUCO Junction caught up with Yavapai Head Coach Brooks Thompson late last week, and he brought us up to speed with Konecny's recruitment.

UNLV and UC-Santa Barbara have shown the most interest in Konecny since he arrived at Yavapai.
Konecny left Southern Idaho late last month and enrolled at Yavapai. He should bolster an already strong Roughrider frontcourt, which features 6-6 sophomore power forward Jay McFarland, 6-4 sophomore forward Akeem Price and 6-9 freshman center Logan Wolf.
"Mark will likely sign late," Thompson said. "Although he might take some visits in the fall."
College coaches at the Division I level are expected to swing through Yavapai during the fall evaluation period.
Those who aren't able to make it out to Prescott will have a chance to watch Konecny at the ACCAC Jamboree on Oct. 4. All 12 men's junior college programs from the state of Arizona will be at the jamboree, which has been certified for D-I coaches.
JUCO Junction will be on hand for the ACCAC Jamboree next month, so we'll keep an eye on Konecny and other top prospects in the Arizona JC ranks.
