LA Southwest has guards galore

Head coach Reggie Morris will not have a lot of height at all this season at LA Southwest. He sure will have a lot of guards that can really get up and go though. JucoJunction recently saw the Cougars from West Imperial Highway in Los Angeles, CA play at Gerry Freitas Hoop Review in Azusa, CA.
Chris Smith: (SO) 6-foot-1 from Torrance, CA.

"Chris really looks effortless out there. He has one of the best strokes I have seen in along time," Morris said.
Smith averaged 26.2 ppg last season as freshman for the Cougars. Chris shot 49.9% (304-603) from the floor while hitting 41.5% (103-248) from three-point range.
"Chris is great scorer that can pile up points in a just a few minutes," said JucoJunction staff member Bret Swanson. "The spot up shooter intends to leak out in transition in get the cheapies at times."
Portland State and Montana State have shown early interest in the scorer.
Jenero Jefferson: (SO) 5-foot-11 from Los Angeles, CA.
Jefferson played over at Pasadena City College last season where he averaged 15 ppg.
"Jenero really likes to play up tempo and get out in transition and make things happen," said Swanson.
Donte Maddox: (SO) 5-foot-11 from Compton, CA. Maddox is the brother of former Fresno State player Tito Maddox.
"The left-handed cat quick point guard is a pesky defender," said Swanson.
Donte didn't play last season. The former 2003 High school graduate can finish at the basket very well.
"Donte plays very hard at all times and brings a great toughness to the game," said Swanson.
Demetrius Turner: (SO) 6-foot-5 from Los Angeles, CA. Turner is a transfer from Cerritos College and was not in attendance here with the Cougars. Demetrius averaged 16.4 ppg and 3.8 rebounds last season at Cerritos College. Turner will have some clock issues after leaving LA Southwest this coming season. He will only have one year left to play D1 or two years for D2/NAIA. Turner played really well last month at Jerry Mullen's JUCO Camp in Tulsa, OK.
