Lamar C.C. Updates

After coming off a disappointing 2002-2003 season, Lamar C.C. is primed for a big year in 2003-2004.
The Runnin' Lopes opened with a pair of victories this past weekend at their classic, including an 81-79 victory over perennial JC power Barton County on Sunday night.

In addition to All-American candidate Quinton Hosley (profiled elsewhere on this site), Lamar has a number of other players getting Division I recruitment.
Reggie Jackson, a 6-8, 235 pound power forward/center from Denver, Colo., is being eyeballed by Louisiana Tech, Idaho, Weber State and Murray State, according to LCC Head Coach Kris Baumann.
Jackson, who scored 14 points in Sunday's win over Barton County, averaged 13 points and seven rebounds per game last season at Lamar.
Jon Gunn, a 6-5, 205 pound shooting guard/swingman from Denver, Colo., (via Georgia), is now expected to sign late, Baumann said. Gunn, who scored 18 points in Sunday's win over Barton County, visited Georgia Southern in September. Last winter, Gunn averaged 14 points and five rebounds per game for the Runnin' Lopes.
Supo Jegede, a 6-8, 220 pound power/combo forward from Aurora, Colo., is a red-shirt freshman trying to leave Lamar with three years to play on the D-I level.
Thus far, Louisiana Tech, Murray State and Boise State have expressed the most early interest in Jegede.
"Supo needs to pass 41 hours," Baumann said. "A lot of people are waiting to see how he will do in the classroom."
Point guard Tory Phillips, a sophomore returnee from last year's squad, is also expected to make a late decision.
JUCO Junction will keep you posted on the Lamar players as the spring signing period approaches. Stay tuned!
