The Aiken Tech College Knights in Aiken, SC have had a up and down season this year under head coach Bruce Capers. Capers, a former Harlem Globetrotter, is getting his team prepared for the Region 10 Tourney to be held at Brunswick Community College in Supply, NC on March 5-7, 2009. JucoJunction had a chance to touch base with coach Capers on some of his players.
Lance James, (SO) 5-foot-11 from Lithonia, GA, is a combo guard who started his college career at the University of Albany but didn't play there. Lance averaged 6 ppg and 3.9 assists as a freshman last season and currently this season is up to 23.1 ppg this season. James has scored 552 points already this season and has moved his career totals to 772 points while at Aiken Tech. Louisiana-Monroe, South Alabama, UC-Riverside, George Mason, Missouri State and SMU have expressed interest in James this season according to coach Capers. James has scored over 20 plus points in 20 games this season for the Knights.
Robert Praylo, (SO) 6-foot-0 from Savannah, GA, is a two guard who is currently averaging 14.2 ppg on the season. Robert carries a 3.2 GPA in the classroom.
"Robert can really can and shoot the three ball and can also hit the midrange jumper," said JucoJunction staff analyst Bret Swanson. Praylo is open in the recruiting process.
Khiry Clark, (FR) 6-foot-8 from Savannah, GA, recently had nine blocks versus Cape Fear Community College and followed it up with seven blocks versus Brunswick Community College the following day. Clark prepped at Sol Johnson High School.
"Khiry is a quick leaper and very long in the paint," said Swanson.
The Knights will look to try to get back to Hutchinson, KS in March this season but they will have to go through leader Brunswick Community College in Supply, NC at the Region tourney. Region 10 has a direct berth to the NJCAA National Tourney this season after sharing with Georgia last season.
