Lincoln Trail scouting report

The Lincoln Trail College Statesmen played for a right to go to Hutchinson, Kansas last season. Lincoln Trail won the Region 24 Championship after beating Wabash Valley, John A Logan and Southeastern Illinois in the Region championship game to advance. The Statesmens' dream came to a end at Highland Community College in Freeport, IL last March. Lincoln Trail College finished (16-18) last season. JucoJunction had a chance to watch this year's Statesmen in Vincennes, IN this past weekend. Head coach Junsie Cotten enters his 3rd year at the helm in Robinson, IL.
Scott McNeil: (SO) 5-foot-9 from Smithfield, NC.

"McNeil is an undersized two guard with a big heart," said JucoJunction staff member Bret Swanson. "Scott can really create his own shot and makes the three ball."
McNeil averaged 11.8 ppg last season while shooting 42.7% (79-185) from three-point range.
"Scott really plays a lot bigger than what he really is, he is one of the best shooters I have ever had in coaching college basketball," said Cotten.
Aubry Watson: (SO) 6-foot-4 from New Orleans, LA. Watson played his high school basketball at Booker T. Washington in New Orleans. Booker T. Washington no
longer exists after the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina.
"Aubry is a wing player who really likes to stalk and attack the baseline," said Swanson. Aubry has a great motor on the floor and can run for days with the energy he brings to the game."
Watson averaged 3.5 ppg last season for the Statesmen.
Greg Johnson: (SO) 6-foot-3 from New Orleans. Johnson played at St Augustine's before Katrina and then surfaced in Memphis, TN.
"Greg is a very versatile player than can play the 1-4 positions on the floor," said Swanson.
Greg averaged 5.1 ppg last year.
Ryan Lawson: (SO) 6-foot-7 from San Antonio. Lawson transfers in from Moberly Area Community College (MO). The power forward will have to step up for the Statesmen this season with the shortage of post players in the program.
Greg McWilliams (FR) and Mike Relerford (FR) will both see a lot of action this season.
"McWilliams is from Las Vegas and is a freak athlete. Greg must add some weight to his frame and he possibly could be the most athletic kid in the region this coming season," said Swanson.
Releford will probably start at the point guard position this season for the Statesmen.
"The Beloit, WI native really runs the position well and gets his teammates involved in the game," said Swanson.
