Looking in

Not making the Florida State Community College Basketball tourney last season was a rarity for one school. This season, the tourney host school is looking from the outside in to make it back. The Chipola College Indians are currently 18-5 on the season under head coach Jake Headrick. The Indians currently sit in fourth place in the always tough Panhandle Conference with a 2-4 record. Northwest Florida State leads the way at 5-1, Pensacola State College 4-1, Gulf Coast State College 3-3 and Tallahassee Community College rounds out the bottom at 0-5.
The Indians need to finish in the top two to advance to the State Tourney in March which is on their home floor. Chipola has been hit by an injury bug this season.
The Indians have lost two promising post players in Jason Carter and freshman Joseph Uchebo.
Carter is a transfer from the University of Alabama and is ranked No. 17 in the 2012 JucoJunction Top 150. Carter has been offered scholarships by Long Beach State and Louisiana Tech University according to Headrick.
Uchebo is a former North Carolina State signee. He was off to a great start before being hampered with injuries. Uchebo played at Word of God in Raleigh, N.C. before landing at Chipola College this past fall.
The Indians still have time to make a move towards the top but will really have to be up for the challenge and Pensacola State College is on the docket for this coming Saturday.
