Louisiana Tech Picks Up JC Pair; Third to Follow

Louisiana Tech hit the daily double this week in the junior college ranks, but can the Bulldogs hit the trifecta?
Louisiana Tech has picked up commitments from 6-3 JueMichael Young of Chipola J.C. in Marianna, Fla., and 6-2 Fred Marshall of Coffeyville C.C. in Coffeyville, Kan. The Bulldogs were also among the finalists for 6-3 Seward County combo guard Donell Allick, who is also expected to cast his lot this week.

Young, who is originally from Hammond, La., spent two years at Louisiana State (one as a non-qualifier sitting out) prior to enrolling at Chipola. He enjoyed a productive sophomore campaign for the Indians.
Chipola Head Coach Ryan Cross confirmed that Young has signed with Louisiana Tech. He should vie for immediate time in the backcourt, especially with the losses of former Indian standouts Lavelle Felton and Michael Wilder.
Young took official visits to Middle Tennessee State and Louisiana Tech before casting his lot with the Bulldogs.
Another Bayou native, Fred Marshall of New Orleans, has also signed with Louisiana Tech, according to Coffeyville Asst. Coach B.J. Hill.
The school has yet to announce the signing because it hasn't received all of the letter of intent paperwork in order, just yet, Hill said.
Marshall is an athletic wing player who attacks the basket and uses his penetration ability to set up teammates for easy deuces. He's got a very quick first step to the hole and is a pesky defensive player. If his three point shot becomes more consistent, Marshall won't be fun for anyone in the Big West Conference to defend next year.
Marshall earned Player of the Year honors in the Jayhawk East Conference after averaging 21.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
As for Allick, he told JUCO Junction on Monday night that he planned to sign a national letter of intent on Tuesday. After Oklahoma declined to offer him a scholarship, Allick was down to Louisiana Tech and Baylor.
JUCO Junction spoke with Seward County Asst. Coach Swede Trenkle on Tuesday evening, and he said that he was unaware of Allick signing yesterday. However, he did anticipate something happening regarding Allick's situation very soon.
JUCO Junction will keep you posted on Allick, and it a commitment occurs, we'll let you know.
