Major Chipola prospect off the board

Casey Mitchell is headed to the Big East Conference next season. JucoJunction was informed of where Mitchell will be heading by Chipola College head coach Greg Heiar this afternoon.
"Casey will be going to play for Bob Huggins at West Virginia University next season. Casey really felt comfortable with the staff and the chance to go in and play right away next season for the Mountaineers. Casey is a scoring machine and can get baskets in bunches," said Heiar.
Casey received strong interest from Oklahoma State and Memphis according to Heiar. Chipola recently qualified for the National Tourney in Hutchinson, KS next week where the Indians will meet Southwest Tennessee in the opening round.
Mitchell was named Panhandle Conference Player of the Year and was a first-team all-conference player in the Panhandle Conference this past week and led the Indians to the Florida State Championship by beating Gulf Coast Community College in 88-82. Mitchell hails from Savannah, GA and prepped at Mount Zion Christian Academy and Laurinburg Institute (NC) out of high school. Mitchell has scored 950 career points while at Chipola is averaging 20.3 ppg this season along with grabbing 4.9 rebounds from the shooting guard position.
