Marquette Adds Some Late Beef with Jackson

Marcus Jackson, who was released from his letter of intent with Georgia last week, is headed back to the Midwest next fall.
Jackson, who visited Marquette from May 4-6, has signed with the Golden Eagles. JUCO Junction confirmed this information with South Plains Head Coach Steve Green.

"It's nice to see that good things happen to good people," Green said. "It's close to home, and Marquette is a blue collar team, and that's what he is -- a blue collar player."
A 6-8, 240 pound power forward from Peoria, Ill., Jackson averaged 7.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game in 2002-2003 for the Texans.
While he is a little mechanical from an offensive standpoint, Jackson is a strong presence in the low post with an affinity for rebounding and physical play. He should help buffer the loss of power forward Robert Jackson, who has completed his eligibility with the Golden Eagle program.
After losing star junior guard Dewayne Wade to the NBA Draft last week, Marquette Head Coach Tom Crean moved quickly to sew up Jackson. He was in Levelland, Tex., last Tuesday, Apr. 29, just one day after Jackson was released from his letter of intent with Georgia.
