Mates stay together

The Blackhawks of Southeastern Community College finished the season in 4th place after losing to Monroe College 74-56 in the 3rd place at the NJCAA National Tourney last weekend in Hutchinson,KS.

"Rinaldo Mafra (not pictured) and Mason Leggett (No.4) will play for Jacksonville State University next season," said Blackhawks assistant coach Lorenzo Watkins. The duo visited the school back in the fall.
Mafra averaged 7.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game this season while the Zachary, L.A. native Leggett averaged 7.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game as a combo guard. The duo now joins Tomas Bruha who committed back earlier this spring to Tulane in finding schools for next season.
Mafra, who's brother played at SCC, is a power forward from Brazil. The Blackhawks finished the year at 29-9 under head coach Terry Carroll. Stay tuned to SCC basketball this spring as a few other sophomores journey off to take official visits.
