"Kellen is the best point guard in the region. He's very a skilled player that is strong with
and without the ball," said Weiburg.
McCoy is leading the Mavericks in scoring at 19.9 ppg, 5.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists this season. Kellen on Thursday night versus Murray State had his second triple-double this
season with 17 points,11 assists and 10 rebounds.
Kellen really gets to the foul line a lot for Mavericks and is shooting (191-239) for the season. Weber State-offered, Stephen F Austin-offered, Texas Pan American-offered, Northern Colorado, Arkansas State and Arkansas Little Rock are recruiting the waterbug point guard this spring.
Nick Kovacevich: (SO) 6-foot-4 (180) from Santa Cruz, CA. Nick transferred in from San Jose State where he played in six games last season. Kovacevich prepped at Stoneridge Prep (CA) before landing at San Jose State last season.
"Nick is a true wing player that's a very deceptive athlete," said Weiburg.
Nick scored 25 points recently versus Northern Oklahoma-Enid. Northern Colorado, Loyola-Chicago and Arkansas State are following Nick this spring. Nick is averaging 13.2
ppg this season for the Mavs.
Dustin Heiman: (SO) 6-foot-0 (180) from Whittier, CA.
"The combo guard doesn't turn over the ball, he has a 2-1 assists to turnover ratio. Dustin is our best perimeter defender," said Weiburg.
California Baptist and Fresno Pacific both have offered scholarships to Heiman. Dustin for the season is averaging 8.8 ppg.
Tony Anderson: (SO) 6-foot-6 (210) from Lawrence, KS. Anderson is a combo forward that's best suited as a 4/3 man.
"Tony knows how to play the game and rarely tries to do things that he can not do," said Weiburg.
Spencer Schrupp: (SO) 6-foot-6 (250) from Oklahoma City, OK. The former walk-on player is a strong left handed post player.
"Spencer can spot up from 15 feet," said Weiburg.
Spencer is shooting 58% (94-162) from the floor this season. Schrupp is averaging 8.5 ppg for the Mavericks.
Kendall Smith: (SO) 6-foot-3 (170) from Cherokee, OK. Smith is a wing that comes off the bench first for the Mavericks. Kendall is getting 7 ppg this season. Smith is shooting 41% (54-130) from three-point range.
