MEAC Program Steals Allegany Sniper

Shawn Wiggins, a slinky 6-3, 175 pound shooting guard from Allegany College in Cumberland, Md., has committed to South Carolina State.
A native of Washington, D.C., Wiggins had signed with the University of Dayton out of high school. But after failing to qualify academically, Wiggins enrolled at Allegany in the fall of 2001. He enjoyed a very productive two-year career for the Trojans.

Wiggins' recruitment stalled a bit this spring for two reasons. He had some work to do in the classroom to finish up and graduate, and Allegany was atypically eliminated in the Region XX title game by Garrett C.C.
Still, there were several schools that looked at Wiggins this spring, but South Carolina State remained persistent and won that recruiting battle.
Wiggins should enjoy an instant impact in the MEAC. He can score in a variety of ways and is an especially deadly spot up perimeter shooter.
Wiggins will have two years of eligibility remaining at South Carolina State.
