Memphis recruiting in July

July is the prime recruiting month in the world of college basketball, and the Memphis coaching staff has been on the road for the entire month looking for future Tigers. Coach Pastner and his assistants have been focusing on familiar players, but they have also turned their sights on some new ones this summer. Here is a look at the Class of 2016 players that Pastner is seriously following this month that Tiger Sports Report has not mentioned in previous articles.
Sedee Keita - The 6-foot-10 inch, 240 pound post player originally from Philadelphia, attends the 22 Feet Academy in Greenville, South Carolina. He has attracted tons of attention playing for WE R1 on the Under Armour Circuit. The 74th ranked player in the country has amassed 24 high major offers according to Rivals.

Keita has grown from 6-foot-3 to 6-foot-9 while he has been in high school, and possesses perimeter skills in a posts body. But don't think of him as a finesse player. He is a ball of energy on the court, with the ability to rebound and block shots.
According to GamecockCentral.com, Keita indicated that after July he will trim his list to around five to ten schools. But he says he doesn't have a concrete plan on when he will make his commitment. He stated in the same article, that Temple, Penn State, and South Carolina are recruiting him the hardest. Keita has taken unofficial visits to Auburn, Clemson, and South Carolina.
Skylar Mays - Mays is a 6-foot-2 point guard who attends Findlay Prep in Nevada. He plays his AAU ball with the loaded MWA Elite who eliminated Team Thad in the Under Armour Quarterfinals.
Originally from Baton Rouge, Mays commited and decommited from LSU earlier this year. In watching Mays play last week, he has the jump shot to be considered a combo guard. But he looks too pure at the point position, not to be recruited at that spot. Ranked No. 122 in the country, Mays told Pat Lawless of the RecruitScoop.com in May, that LSU, UNLV, Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Tulsa were recruiting him the hardest. He also said he would take his visits in the fall, then make his decision next spring.
Jeriah Horne - Maybe no player on the July summer circuit has helped himself more than Horne. The 3-star wing from Kansas City plays for the local KC Run GMC team. At 6-foot-6, 220 pounds, Horne has a nice basketball frame which he uses on the defensive end, and the rare offensive ability to score from deep, mid-range, and inside. As with many of the summer hoops participants who are getting tons of attention from coaches, Horne intends to narrow his list in August and then choose his school in the fall. Rivals lists him with twenty offers on every level from the Big South Conference to the ACC, Big 12, and ACC.
Jordan Bone - Many coaches have followed Team Thad this summer to watch Fisher and Thomas only to leave raving about Bone. The 6-foot-1 inch point guard from Ensworth School in Nashville has been flying way under the radar in the past, but those days are dwindling rapidly. Bone has a lightning first step and possesses a very accurate pull-up jumper from the mid post and high post areas. He also combines his half-court quickness with full-court speed and the ability to run the floor. Bone has also been offered by Tennessee and VCU.
Bone has connections to each program. Obviously, he plays with a Memphis based AAU program. Bone's brother Josh, played at Tennessee, and VCU Head Coach Will Wade is from Bone's hometown of Nashville.
Memphis also has extended recent scholarship offers to JUCO players
Arlando Cook - A 6-foot-8 power forward at Connors State Community College in Warner, Oklahoma. The St. Louis native has offers from eight schools including Arkansas and Mississippi.
Armond Davis- a 6-foot-5 wing from the College of Southern Idaho has also been getting interest from Penn State, Alabama, and Iowa State.
The most imminent recruitment by the Tigers is currently taking place with San Diego State decommit Brodricks Jones. As was reported earlier in the week, Jones will visit the Tigers on August 4, and will also tour Providence, Syracuse, and UTEP before announcing.
