Mickens Commits to George Mason

George Mason picked up one of the top junior college post players left on the board this spring when Allegany's 6-9 power forward Kevin Mickens gave the Patriots the nod this week.
JUCO Junction confirmed the commitment with Allegany Head Coach Bob Kirk on Wednesday afternoon.

Mickens took an official visit to George Mason this past weekend. Back in December, he had officially visited Virginia Tech. On Monday, the Hokies relieved Head Coach Ricky Stokes of his duties.
Schools such as Virginia Commonwealth and Nebraska had also expressed interest in Mickens this spring, according to Coach Kirk.
"[George Mason] recruited him all year," Kirk said. "They're close to home, and they did a good job of recruiting him."
Mickens, a native of Baltimore, Md., expects to sign a national letter with George Mason during next month's signing period.
