Modesto has players to watch

The Modesto College Pirates will be leaving the Central Valley Conference this season and heading off to the Big 8 Conference. Head coach Paul Brogan had a chance to watch his team this weekend at the Diablo Valley College Jamboree in Pleasant Hill, CA. JucoJunction was on hand to see the Pirates and their 6-foot-8 sophomore, Marvin Jefferson, and 6-foot-4 freshman Sammy Yeager.
Jefferson was a beast this weekend. Jefferson last played with the Pirates back in the 2005-2006. Marvin averaged 8.5 ppg, 4.5 rebounds and recorded 95 blocks (2.7 per game) during the 2005-2006 season. Jefferson sat out last year and attended classes at Modesto Junior College.

"Marvin played earlier this month at Jerry Mullen's JUCO Camp in Tulsa and it was a real eye opener for him," said Brogan. "He has improved so much over the last year and he's so far from reaching his potential."
Nebraska, UC-Santa Barbara-offered, California State-Northridge-offered, Pacific, Fresno
State, Tulsa and Bradley have expressed interest in the power forward. Jefferson has taken a unofficial visit to UC-Santa Barbara.
Yeager is a 2009 prospect from Modesto, CA. The hometown product had verballed to San Diego but didn't qualify academically. Yeager averaged 25 ppg last season in high school at Modesto High School. Sammy was the District and League MVP last season.
"Sammy is a big guard who can play both positions," said Brogan.
