Monroe College Signing/Player Update

Since our last update on the Monroe College program in the Bronx, N.Y., some Mustang players have cast their lot with four-year programs.
JUCO Junction caught up with Monroe Head Coach Jeff Brustad this week, and he filled us in on the latest with Mustang players.

Terry Hill, a beefy 6-5, 225 pound power forward from Newark, N.J., has signed with Grambling State in Louisiana.
Hill averaged three points and 2.6 rebounds per game in a reserve role for Monroe. He will have two years of eligibility at Grambling State.
Freshman power forward Taylor Murphy, a 6-5, 230 pounder from Far Rockaway, N.Y., has signed on to play at D-II power Adelphi. Murphy, who did a nice job off the bench against Schoolcraft College at the NJCAA Tournament in March, will have three years of eligibility at Adelphi.
As previously reported on JUCO Junction, 6-1 combo guard Kingsley Edwards has committed to Central Florida. According to Coach Brustad, Edwards is finishing up five courses in his final trimester at Monroe. If he does that successfully, he will have two years to play at UCF starting in the fall of 2003.
Edwards averaged 15.8 points and 4.9 assists per game in 2002-2003, helping the Mustangs to a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA Tournament in March. Edwards is a native of the Bronx.
Kevin Bell, a 6-2, 200 pound point/combo guard from New York City, will be taking a visit to Florida A&M in the near future.
Bell is enrolled in seven courses in his final trimester at Monroe. He needs to take care of business, because he is in his third year of junior college. If he doesn't get it done in the classroom, he could be a prime D-II target come August.
Bell averaged 16.6 points, three rebounds and 7.6 assists per game for the Mustangs in 2002-2003. He started out at American University in the fall of 2000 before detouring to Arkansas-Fort Smith for a year and a half.
Prior to arriving at Monroe in the fall of 2002, Bell helped the Lions reach the NJCAA Tournament and claim seventh place.
A trio of Mustang players are still looking for places to go in the fall.
Daniel Moges, a 6-10, 220 pound finesse power forward/center from London, England, is still on the market this spring.
Although Moges was a reserve and didn't see a ton of action, he moves well and has a nice soft touch on his shots.
Brustad said that South Carolina State and Southern University are a pair of D-I programs that have expressed some interest in Moges.
Henri Maidou, a 6-4, 200 pound swingman from Paris, France, must go the Division II route due to a clock issue, Brustad said.
