Monroe duo to the next level

Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY has posted a 54-15 record the past two seasons under long time coach Gerald Burns. The Poets made it to the NJCAA D2 National Tourney in Danville, IL this past March and walked away with 6th place after going 1-2 in the tourney. Coach Burns informed JucoJunction that two of his players have decided on with Division One programs for next season in this article.
Jeron Belin, (SO) 6-foot-7 from Meriden, CT, has signed with St. Peter's University according to coach Burns. Belin played his freshman season at Polk Community College in Florida before transferring to Monroe Community College this past fall. Belin averaged 14.3 ppg and 6.1 rebounds this year for the 30-7 Poets. Jeron shot 54.5% (177-325) from the floor. Belin received first-team All-American, NJCAA Region III Player of the Year and NJCAA D2 Player of the Year this past season for the Poets.
Kareem Brown, (SO) 6-foot-2 from New London, CT, will take his game to Coppin State University in Baltimore, MD next fall according to Burns. Brown averaged 15 ppg this past season. Kareem finished his career with a school record 167 three-pointers made. Brown finished his career with 941 career points in 68 games played from the shooting guard position. Kareem recently played in the NJCAA All Star game in Odessa, TX.
