Mt. San Jacs Johnson Big West Bound

Tihon Johnson twisted in the wind long enough this spring.
The versatile 6-3, 210 pound swingman from Mt. San Jacinto College in California recently committed to Idaho after an official visit (May 21-23) to the Big West program.

"He went there last weekend and will probably sign with them," Springer said on Wednesday. "He gave them a verbal commitment."
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Johnson took official visits to Long Beach State and Idaho this spring before selecting the Vandals. Back in the fall, he visited Creighton.
Others who expressed interest included Weber State, Miami (OH), Wright State and Ohio University, Springer said.
Johnson earned Most Valuable Player honors in the Foot Hill Conference this past season, averaging 19.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He shot 36 percent beyond the arc and 76 percent from the foul line.
"He will be able to score baskets for them," Springer predicted. "The way he scores and shoots the ball will serve him well in the Big West."
"He has a chance to be successful there," Springer continued. "He's really excited, and Coach [Leonard] Perry said he will be able to play some point in addition to the two."
Johnson will have two years of eligibility at Idaho.
