Myers chooses WVU

Williston (N.D.) Williston State C.C. guard Teyvon Myers had West Virginia on his mind since leaving from his official visit and made the decision to commit to Bob Huggins program Thursday evening.
Myers, 6-foot-2, 178-pounds, averaged 25 points during this past season and became a priority of the West Virginia staff in recent weeks, especially after taking an official visit to Morgantown over the weekend.

While he didn't pledge to the program after the visit, it was clear that the Mountaineers made quite the impression and Myers made his choice known a few days later.
"I needed a coach to get me to be the player I can be. I noticed that I fit right into their system and I love those guys and coach Huggins really loves me as a player," he said.
The junior college guard spoke with Huggins briefly Thursday to inform the veteran coach of his commitment and as expected he was excited to add him to the fold.
"He said he was happy about it and he can't wait to get me ready," Myers said.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Myers became a hot commodity in recent weeks with Louisville and Arizona State also entering his recruitment as well as several other programs. The Mountaineers made Myers a priority at the turn of the New Year and have made multiple trips to see the junior college guard in person.
Aside from Huggins what set West Virginia apart was the fact that the Mountaineers impressed him with their togetherness as a team and the way the players made him feel like he was already a part of the family during his official visit.
"That's really important. They have your back and they really care for you," he said.
At West Virginia Myers is expected to fill the role as a combo-guard playing either the one or the two after the graduations of seniors Juwan Staten and Gary Browne. But even with the departures that did not play a role in his decision to select the Mountaineers.
"West Virginia was just a good school. I noticed how they really used their guards and that's a big piece of their offense," he said. "I'll fit right into that spot."
Myers plans to arrive at West Virginia in June and will have two years of eligibility remaining once he graduates from the junior college level. He will sign his letter of intent in April.
"I plan on getting there as soon as I'm out of school and getting ready and trying to win a national championship. He likes his players to work hard and I'm going to do that," he said.
Myers is the third member of the recruiting class joining Cleveland (Oh.) Shaker Heights forward Esa Ahmad and James "Beetle" Bolden who signed during the early period.
