Nations top juco player makes his choice

The top-ranked junior college player in the land has ended his recruitment. Redlands College forward Ty Morrison committed to Missouri.
"Yes, sir, I made a commitment to Missouri," Morrison confirmed before imparting even better news to Tiger fans. "I will sign in November."

Morrison, 6-foot-7 ½ and 220 pounds, visited the Tigers last Wednesday and Thursday. Following that trip, he cancelled a scheduled visit to Washington. Morrison made his commitment on Monday night.
"There were a lot of positives, but I loved the tradition. They have a lot of tradition at the college," Morrison said. "I felt like I got a lot of support from the players and the basketball coaches. I liked how they treated me as a human being."
At Redlands, Morrison averaged ten points per game as a freshman on a team that finished the season 27-and-4. He plays all over for coach Eck, but will likely be slotted as a wing forward at Mizzou.
Morrison had mentioned the Huskies as his likely leader, but visited Missouri and Oregon. After his trip to Columbia, the top juco prospect in the country did not need another visit. One of the major selling points came off the court.
"I want to major in journalism," Morrison said. "Their school ranks number on in the country as far as journalism, so that was a major plus. They have a lot of tutoring, tutoring is available for every class."
In high school, Morrison was a four-time all-state selection in Phoenix, AZ. He was also the player of the year in the state his senior season and a McDonald's all-American nominee. He joins Keon Lawrence and Armon Bassett in Missouri's Class of 2006.
