New York big man is Famous

Westchester Community College is located just outside of New York City and is located in Valhalla, NY. Winston Nicholas is the head coach of the Westcos. JucoJunction has the latest on the Westcos' top post player in this story.

Jarrid Famous, (SO) 6-foot-10 (240), is an impressive 5/4 man. Famous ran AAU with the Metro Hawks a few summers back. Jarrid is a bit of a late bloomer. Famous signed with the University of Hartford coming out of high school at Blessed Sacrament in New York three years ago. Jarrid did a post graduate year at Houston Inner City Academy in Houston, TX. Famous tried to enroll at Long Island University after playing at Houston Inner City Academy but failed to qualify academically. Jarrid averaged 21.6 ppg and 10.9 rebounds last season while shooting 59.2% (241-407) from the floor for the Westcos. Famous was a first team all region performer.

Famous played very well last month at the Next Step Summer Showcase at Westchester Community College. Famous could play either the power forward or center position at the next level. Missouri, Seton Hall, Rutgers, St John's, Rhode Island, Providence, Binghamton, Albany and Long Island University have all offered Famous already this fall. Seton Hall head coach Bobby Gonzalez and Missouri head coach Mike Anderson were in attendance to watch Famous at the event.
