Nix will have decision after final visit

Recruiting is a process that changes by the hour. Few players know that as well as Temple Junior College guard Dekyron Nicks. The list of suitors for Nix has changed just about daily.
Hawaii was the first program to ask Nix for a visit, one which he set for the weekend of April 15th. He later set a trip to Marshall for the following weekend. The Wednesday before Nicks was supposed to leave for Hawaii, the coaches called to inform him they'd gotten another commitment and wouldn't be having him visit. The same morning, Nicks saw on the news that Marshall had gotten a commitment from a point guard. That offer no longer stood either.

"The thing that was frustrating in both cases, they were point guards from our conference that he had played against that we had beaten," said head coach Kirby Johnson. "You've got guys that we consider he's better then and in both cases both of those guys committed sight unseen, without taking a visit. That's how recruiting is. You take different people and it's all a game of chance, but we would not have done that to somebody. That was the disappointing part of that."
Either way, Nicks is set for his final visit this weekend. He has already been to Idaho and Montana.
"He is visiting Fresno State this weekend," Johnson said. "He will probably try to decide on Sunday."
"I think he's probably leaning toward Fresno depending on how his visit goes," Johnson said of the 5-foot-9, 178-pound Nicks. "This is just my opinion, but I think he'd rather be California than Idaho or Montana, being a Texas kid. When he gets there, he'll know if that's a comfortable fit for him. Being in the WAC is an advantage for them as well."
Even with all that, the situation continues to change. Johnson said Auburn called about Nicks just last week, but it's a little late to get in on the game.
Nicks was the conference MVP for a Temple team that went 30-and-0 during the regular season. JucoJunction.com will let you know when Nicks makes his decision.
