DeGroot officially visited Georgia State back in late August, and had generated interest from a smattering of high major programs in recent months.
"He felt comfortable in Atlanta," NMMI Head Coach Reggie Franklin told JUCO Junction, confirming DeGroot's commitment. "He has some family down that way."
DeGroot is currently enrolled in 21 hours at New Mexico Military, so he has slim margin for error if he wants move on to the Division I ranks in the fall.
He's a third-year sophomore at NMMI, playing for the Broncos in 2001-2002 before sitting out the 2002-2003 campaign.
JUCO Junction will keep you abreast on DeGroot's situation should anything change in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
