North Idaho guard makes commitment

The North Idaho College Cardinals are currently (15-0) on the season and ranked #16 in the latest NJCAA Division Basketball poll. JucoJunction had a chance to touch base with Cardinals head coach Jared Phay on one of his players making a commitment for next season. The Cardinals now have three players committed for next season.
Melvin Jones, (SO) 5-foot-10 from Seattle, has committed to Portland State University next season according to coach Phay.

"Melvin has matured into a scoring point guard. He has always been able to score but he has taken the next step and developed into a team leader and a player who can run the show. We are very excited for him to attend Portland State and I think it is a good fit for him and for Portland State," said Phay.
Jones is currently averaging 13.6 ppg, 4.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds this season. Jones joins fellow teammates Michel Swita and Shawn Henderson in committing for next season. San Diego,Montana,UC Riverside,Weber State and Cal State Fullerton all showed interest in Melvin this past fall.
