O-Ws Elliott Has Pair of Trips on Docket
Marcus Elliott, a 6-3, 185 pound combo/point guard from Okaloosa-Walton C.C. in Niceville, Fla., will take a pair of official visits over the next two weekends.
JUCO Junction caught up with O-W Asst. Coach Michael Curry this week. He informed us that Elliott will spend this weekend (9/12-14) at Kansas State and next weekend at Louisiana Tech (9/19-21).
"He's an all-around player," Curry said. "He shoots it, rebounds it and is a great defender."
Elliott returns to the Sunshine State this fall after spending his freshman campaign at Southwest Mississippi C.C. in Summit, Miss. A native of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Elliott averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists per game last season at SMCC, according to Curry.
With visits to a pair of high level programs lined up this fall, there's a possibility that Elliott could make an early decision.
"It's up in the air right now whether he'll sign early," Curry said.
Despite a highly successful freshman campaign, Elliott was off the radar screen this summer. He did not attend any of the major junior college evaluation camps, instead electing to remain in Ft. Walton Beach.
A full academic qualifier out of high school, Elliott will have two years of D-I athletic eligibility remaining after he plays the 2003-2004 season at O-W.
