Odessa prospects collecting offers

The Odessa College Wranglers are fighting to make the post season. The Wranglers are currently 18-7 on the season behind South Plains, Midland and Howard Junior College. JucoJunction had a chance to touch base with assistant coach Mike Scutero on some recruitment updates of the Wranglers.
Sean Jackson: (SO) 6-foot-8 (205) from Sanford, FL.

"Jackson is a long and very active athlete. Sean has a good knack for scoring the ball," said Scutero.
Sean never played high school ball back in Florida. Jackson must take care of some academic issues this year to make graduation. There's possibility he could sit out next year and play the following two seasons at the D1 level.
TCU, Weber State, St Bonaventure, Murray State-offered, are keeping close on him this spring. Jackson is at 7.1 ppg and 6.3 rebounds this season.
Desean Gist: (SO) 6-foot-1 (190) from Brooklyn, NY. Gist played his freshman season at Suffolk CC (NY) where he was Region Player of the Year at 14 ppg.
"Desean is the reason we have won a lot of games this season. He's like a coach on the floor that can really get to the basket very well," said Scutero.
Appalachian State, UT-San Antonio, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Fairfield, Charleston Southern, Florida International, SMU, St Bonaventure and Weber State are in contact with Gist this spring. Gist is averaging 5.7 ppg and 2.6 steals for the Wranglers.
Joseph Reed: (SO) 6-foot-8 (225) from Houston, TX.
"Joseph is playing behind Quintin Thornton (LSU bound). He has a great body and plays very physical. The one-time Texas A&M-Corpus Christi signee out of high school will be very serviceable at the next level as a solid role player" said Scutero.
Central Arkansas, Southern University (LA), Coppin State and Lynn University (FL)
are currently recruiting Joseph. Joseph is getting 3 ppg and 3.9 rebounds this season for the very well balanced Wranglers.
Dewayne Hall: (SO) 5-foot-11 (165) from El Paso, TX.
"The small two guard is very athletic and can really stroke it," said Scutero.
Dewayne was the MVP coming out of high school in city of El Paso. Hall shows a
solid mid-range game and rebounds well for his size. UT-San Antonio and Stephen F Austin are recruiting him. Dewayne is hitting for 8.6 ppg this season.
Deluis Ramirez: (SO) 6-foot-4 (195) from Miami, FL. The small forward was to attend VCU but that is not the case anymore. Ramirez has opened up the recruitment and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Montana and Sam Houston State are watching him currently.
"Delius is a winner, he won three state championships at Northwest Christian in Miami. He has a great basketball IQ and he does all the things to make your team win games,"
said Scutero.
Delius is averaging 8.9 ppg and 4 rebounds from the small forward position.
Dragoslav Papic: (FR) 6-foot-8 (200) from Serbia. Papic has already ended his recruitment and has given Virginia Commonwealth a early verbal. Papic, who prepped at South Kent (CT) last season, was placed at Odessa by VCU.
"The face up 4 man has great offensive skills. Papic really anticipates well and he has all
the tools you can't teach," said Scutero.
Papic has played in every game this and is averaging 8.4 ppg and 4.5 rebounds.
Kiwan Smith: (FR) 6-foot-8 (210) from Brooklyn, NY. Smith became eligible at the semester for the Wranglers. Kiwan played three years at Laurinburg Institute (NY) where he scored 1,227 career points.
"Kiwan has really bought into the team concept of playing. He's a beast around the basket that is relentless on the floor," said Scutero.
Smith plays all the post positions for Odessa at one time or another. Smith has just played in 12 college games so far this season and is averaging 8 ppg and 5 rebounds for OC.
