Ohlone sophomores looking around

The Ohlone College Renegades lost in the California State Elite 8 to Antelope Valley 71-69 to finish their season at 28-4. Head Coach John Peterson had a chance to update JucoJunction on some his sophomores' recruitment today.
Renardo Bass: (SO) 6-foot-2 (195) from Norfolk, VA. The lefthanded strong slasher type guard had a solid season.

"Renardo did all the dirty work for two years. He can defend all five spots on the floor, rebounds on both ends, takes charges. He was our X-factor, especially in the locker room," said Peterson.
Bass was an Honorable Mention All-State selection. Renardo is receiving interest from Metro State (CO), Eastern Washington, Texas State. Bass averaged 7.6 ppg and 7.3 rebounds this season. Last year Renardo averaged 10.3 ppg and 6.5 rebounds as a freshman.
Willis Gardner: (SO) 6-foot-0 (180) from Norristown, PA. Gardner played at Luzerne County CC (PA) back in 004-2005 season. Willis was named MVP of the Coast Conference and a All-State selection.
"The point guard is a good fit for someone because of his ability to shoot the ball and control tempo. Willis is a great competitor," said Peterson.
Gardner will visit Fresno State in the near future. Willis averaged 10.2 ppg and 4.2 assists this past season while shooting over 50% from the floor and 82% from the foul line.
Jermaine Smith: (SO) 6-foot-9 (220) from Irvington, NJ. The very skilled power forward is receiving interest from San Jose State-offered, Monmouth, Rhode Island, Sacramento State, Manhattan, Rider, New Orleans.
Jermaine averaged 9.4 ppg, 7.3 rebounds and recorded 76 blocks this season.
"Jermaine is better on the defensive end right now, but has a great upside," said
Peterson.
Allen Hester: (SO) 6-foot-1 (185) from Oakland, CA.
"The scoring guard has the ability to get you extra possessions with his athleticism. The bigger the game, the better he played," said Peterson.
The shot 41% two-guard was 44-107 from three-point range this season. Northern Arizona, UC-Santa Barbara, Sacramento State, Idaho, Idaho State are pursuing Hester this spring. Allen averaged 10.5 ppg this past season.
Bert Whittington: (SO) 5-foot-11 (180) from Oakland, CA.
"Bert really matured a lot from his freshman to sophomore years, especially in terms of understanding tempo," said Peterson.
Whittington averaged 10.5 ppg and 3 assists this past season for the Renegades while averaging 12.9 ppg as a freshman last year. Bert has deep range out to 24 feet and that shows in his shooting this season. Whittington hit 41% (43-104) from three-point range.
Northern Arizona, San Francisco, Cal State-Northridge, Northern Colorado, Idaho State and Southern Utah are keeping tabs on Bert this spring.
