Pair Looking at McDonald Early

Marvett McDonald, a 6-1, 175 pound shooting/combo guard from Southeastern C.C. in West Burlington, Ia., has a pair of colleges courting him this fall.
JUCO Junction caught up with SCC Head Coach Joe O'Brien recently, and he informed us that Alabama-Birmingham and Arkansas Little Rock are involved early with McDonald.

A native of Memphis, Tenn., McDonald was a key reserve for SCC's national title squad in 2002-2003, averaging 8.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest. Despite playing behind NJCAA All-American Filiberto Rivera (UTEP) and 6-4 shooter deluxe Jake Sottos (Hawaii), McDonald knocked down 75 three pointers as a freshman. He converted those shots at a 41 percent clip.
"He's a tremendous shooter," O'Brien said. "What he's going to do (as a sophomore) and where he is going to sign remains to be seen."
McDonald is expected to make a spring decision, so it's likely that many more schools will get involved with him during the 2003-2004 season.
JUCO Junction will stay on the case until a decision is reached. Stay tuned.
