Palacios leads the pack at Eastern Oklahoma

Eastern Oklahoma sophomore Kevin Palacios is finding out this year how tough it is to be a star.
"He hasn't had as good a year as what I anticipated," said Eastern Oklahoma coach Jimmy Voight. "He kind of flew under the radar screen last year when we had James Hall who was an all-American player. Defenses were geared to shut down James Hall and Kevin got solo defense. This year, he's kind of the focal point of most all defenses. He catches the ball and gets doubled in the post like most star players do."

There is still quite a bit of Division One interest in the 6-foot-8, 250-pound Venezuelan though.
"I think some people have dropped off, but we still hear from some big time schools," Voight said. "Oklahoma, Creighton, USC, Tim Floyd and them have asked about him, Purdue has been in to see him play. Those are some pretty good programs."
Another player to watch at Eastern Oklahoma is the starting point guard.
"The MVP of my team is probably Lionel Brown," Voight said. "he's jet quick, a big-time athlete. He can dun k it any way you want, can shoot the ball extremely well. BYU was in to see him play the other night, Southwest Missouri State, North Texas, people like that are showing interest."
The Mountaineers are 18-and-7 heading into a game against Northeastern Oklahoma tonight.
