Panola Picks Up Ole Miss Transfer

Patrick Fields, a 6-5, 205 pound small forward/shooting guard who red-shirted this past year at Ole Miss, will transfer to Panola College in 2003-2004.
A native of San Antonio, Tex., Fields is planning to spend one year at Panola and then transfer to a Division I school with three to play, according to Ponies Head Coach Scott Monarch.

"He's really, really good," Monarch said. "He's a more athletic version of Omar [Thomas], and some people recruited him as a point guard out of high school."
Fields was a qualifier out of high school who was a spring 2002 signee for the Rebels. He averaged 22.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists in helping lead John Jay High School of San Antonio to a 29-6 record and the Texas state title in 2001-02.
Monarch expects Fields and some of his other players to attend Jerry Mullen's JUCO Showcase in Tulsa later this month.
JUCO Junction plans to have coverage of this event, so keep it here for the latest.
